Best Grounding Sheets of 2024 (Beware of Counterfeits!)

We all know what it feels like to wake up feeling groggy – even after 8 hours of sleep.

Unfortunately, getting 8 hours of sleep doesn’t guarantee that you’ll wake up feeling refreshed in the morning.

That’s because the quality of sleep is just as important as the quantity

How Grounding Effects Sleep

One factor that can greatly affect the quality of our sleep is grounding – or lack thereof.

Think about our ancestors – for thousands of years, humans slept on the ground, connecting directly with the Earth’s natural energy. However, in today’s modern world, we spend most of our time indoors and disconnected from nature.

This is where grounding sheets come in – they are designed to mimic the benefits of sleeping on the ground to help us synchronize with the Earth’s energy while we sleep.

It’s been scientifically proven that the Earth holds a universal current – connecting to it enters your body into a profound healing state. Sleeping on a grounding sheet can help reset your body’s own natural electric rhythms, which ultimately results in normalized circadian rhythms, increased energy levels, and better quality sleep.

Which means that you’ll be getting a lot more out of each hour of sleep.

What Are the Best Grounding Sheets?

We personally reached out to each company to ensure that each sheet had been properly tested. We’ve selected only the best sheets based on these criteria:

  • ✔️No cheap knockoffs/imitations (Over 98% of grounding sheets on the market are fake)
  • ✔️Made with stainless steel (silver loses its conductivity very quickly, rending your sheet useless after 1 or 2 years)
  • ✔️Machine washable
  • ✔️Can be placed under your normal sheets (other sheets need direct contact to work)
  • ✔️Has a minimum 3-year warranty (most earthing products have a 1-year warranty covering defects only)

Whistleblowing: Red Flags & Earthing Sheet Companies to AVOID

The Issue with Silver Fiber Grounding Sheets

Clint Ober, the founder of the modern earthing movement, originally designed the first earthing sheets with silver fibers.

However, over time, he discovered that the moisture and oils from our bodies quickly oxidized the silver threads, making them useless after just a few months. There were also issues with the black rubber tab (where the sheet and cord would meet) which created a loss of conductivity.

Because of these issues, his company Earthing stopped making these sheets in 2016.

Fake Earthing Sheets – A Cash Cow

Unfortunately, since then, cheap Chinese counterfeits have flooded the market.

And it doesn’t stop there. They all make false claims about the effectiveness and authenticity of their products.

Many go as far as to warn others about “fake earthing sheets” when in fact, they are the ones selling them.

🚩Red Flags

So who can you trust? Here are the three main red flags to look out for when purchasing earthing sheets:

  1. 🚩Sheets made with silver fibers
  2. 🚩Companies claiming to have the “original” or “authentic” grounding sheet (the original and authentic grounding sheets were discontinued due to their short lifespan – they just didn’t work!)
  3. 🚩Their sheets are in a grid pattern (square OR rectangular!) and have a black rubber tab
All Earthing sheets with 3-10% silver thread are to be considered counterfeit - no matter the claims of authenticity and scientific "proof" made on their websites.

I Was Fooled Too! My Experience

I used to recommend earthing sheets from AARDING and GroundLuxe. I emailed back and forth with the owners of both companies, who assured me that their sheets worked and sent me photos and proof that their sheets performed.

However, after some encouragement to keep prodding and investigating further, I asked AARDING if they carried proof of their patented silver thread (which they claimed to be the highest quality silver yarn in the industry) as well as proof that they manufacture their sheets in Europe, and not China.

Both of my requests were ignored, and they had no proof to show.

Similarly, GroundLuxe only provided indefinite photo proof that their sheets (straight from the package) worked, however, their sheets are also made with 5% silver fiber which will inevitably corrode after a short time (less than 6 months).

The Problem with Alibaba

Most companies selling earthing sheets (online and on Amazon) are sourcing them on Alibaba, where they buy them for $50 and make a 400% profit.

The quality and performance of these cheap imitations are likely to be poor, and they may not even contain any silver fibers at all.

They may also contain harmful chemicals and materials that can cause adverse reactions in some individuals.

The sellers most likely have no idea what they are selling. They just know that earthing is trendy and profitable.

Many companies (even the legit-looking ones) are sourcing their earthing products from Alibaba and rebranding them as their own. The grid pattern and black rubber tab are usually the dead giveaway.

List of Companies to Avoid

Here’s a starter list of companies to avoid – whether it’s because they make false claims, sell sheets with 3-10% silver thread, or claim to be “authentic”.

By no means is this a comprehensive list – there are hundreds of companies selling fake earthing sheets online. Do your own research before making a purchase using the advice I have provided above.

  • Aarding (take a look at their page warning against counterfeits, making bold claims when they sell counterfeits themselves!)
  • GroundLuxe
  • All earthing sheets on Amazon (Due to the prolific amount of counterfeit earthing sheets for sale, just avoid Amazon altogether.)
  • Groundology
  • Sleep Earthed
  • Earthing Harmony
  • Grooni Earthing

Buyers Guide: How We Conducted Our Research

Why do we only have two companies on this list? It’s because the others didn’t pass our standards.

We sifted through the brands that met our initial criteria and then reached out to each one to ask more questions. Many brands couldn’t give a complete answer or provide reputable proof, and some didn’t respond at all.

Those who did respond were put through an evaluation process based on the following criteria:

  • ✔️No cheap knockoffs/imitations – Due to their popularity, tons of cheap Chinese imitation products with inferior silver have popped up on the market (especially on Amazon). Despite whatever claims of authenticity they make online, they hardly work – and after a few washes, they almost completely lose their conductivity. In this list, we’ve only added products that truly work – no matter what the claims or how good the marketing of other brands were.
  • ✔Made with stainless steel – Silver-coated threads have a short lifespan (less than 6 months) and corrode easily due to sulfur in sweat and natural skin oils, and are weakened by washing. We only recommend conductive sheets made with high-quality stainless steel which is not only more durable but is more efficient and conductive than silver.
  • ✔️Machine washable – Many earthing bed sheets aren’t machine-washable nor compatible with detergents. However, washing bedsheets by hand is inconvenient and unrealistic for most people. You can wash these recommended sheets them as you normally would in a washing machine (no bleach or softeners, though).
  • ✔️Can be placed under your normal sheets – other sheets need direct contact to be properly grounded
  • ✔️Has a minimum 3-year warranty Most earthing products, if they do have a warranty, have a 1-year warranty covering defects only.

What are Grounding Sheets?

Grounding sheets, also known as earthing sheets, are essentially bed sheets that are made with conductive materials such as silver thread

Grounding sheets work by connecting your body to the earth’s natural electrical charge, also known as the Schumann resonance. Sleeping grounded allows for a transfer of electrons, which can neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation in the body. Sleeping on a grounding sheet is like walking barefoot on the grass, but without leaving your bed.

It’s also important to know that it’s not about the percentage of silver in the sheets, but the quality and conductivity of it.

How Can Grounding Sheets Benefit You?

Grounding has been linked to various health benefits, including:

  • Improved quality of sleep
  • Improved lymph circulation
  • Reduced stress and anxiety
  • Reduced PMS symptoms
  • Relief from chronic pain and inflammation
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Faster recovery from injuries and illnesses
  • Better mood and overall sense of well-being

Grounding sheets allow you to sleep grounded – which means that you’ll be getting several hours of grounding benefits a day without any additional effort.

The more hours you spend grounded, the more you can potentially benefit from it.

Conclusion

Earthing was a commonplace practice for our ancestors, but in today’s modern world, it has been largely forgotten. With the increasing levels of illness, stress, inflammation, electromagnetic radiation, and a decrease in time spent outdoors barefoot, earthing is more important now than ever before.

The benefits of earthing go beyond just better sleep – it can improve overall health and wellness. With so many options available on the market, it can be overwhelming to choose an earthing sheet that actually works. If you have any doubts about your earthing sheet, don’t hesitate to test its conductivity with a multimeter.

This small, low-effort investment in an earthing sheet can have a big impact on your health and quality of sleep. It’s definitely worth it in our opinion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Grounding sheets do not use any electricity. They can be plugged into the ground port of an outlet (the bottom hole of a three-pronged socket)or attached to a grounding rod placed outside.

Earthing sheets can be washed in a washing machine with white vinegar or mild detergent and warm water. Do not use detergent for white fabric, bleach, dryer sheets, or fabric softener as it may damage the conductive threads.

Natural skin oils, sweat, and dirt can reduce the conductivity of earthing sheets. If you are sleeping directly on top of your earthing sheets, it’s recommended to wash your earthing sheet at least once every 2 weeks (as you would with normal sheets) to keep them clean and conductive. If you have another sheet on top, once a month should suffice.

Some people may feel the benefits of earthing immediately, while for others it may take a few days or weeks. Consistent use is recommended for maximum results.

Earthing sheets may provide benefits such as improved sleep, reduced inflammation and pain, increased energy levels, and overall better health and wellness. It can also help protect against the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation.

Depending on use and quality, silver-threaded earthing sheets silver will not last longer than 6 months. Stainless steel earthing sheets (which we recommend) can last 3 years at minimum or more with proper care and maintenance.

Grounding sheets are bed sheets that contain conductive materials, such as stainless steel or silver threads, which allow for a connection between the body and the Earth’s natural energy. This process is also known as “grounding” or “earthing”.
